Pontiac Silverdome, Pontiac Michigan

The Silverdome was the former home to the NFL Detroit Lions. The stadium was completed in 1975 and features the largest air-supported, cable restrained fiberglass fabric dome in the world. In 1982, the Silverdome hosted Super Bowl XVI, the first to be held outside of the Sun belt.

The Jacksons, Pink Floyd, Madonna, Backstreet Boys, World Cup Soccer teams, Pope John Paul II - they have all been here! This unique indoor stadium, with a seating capacity of 80,325, is host to music concerts, sporting events, religious gatherings and more. Its claim to fame includes being the first indoor stadium to host a soccer game, on fresh grass, during the 1993 U.S. Cup. Events are also held in its 100+ acre parking area - wrestling, motorcycle racing, college and high school football games, consumer shows etc. Even an attempt was made at a Drive-in Movie Theater, hosting three large screens within it's South parking lot. Silverdome is definitely beyond comparison but now sits pretty much unused.
